118.com?

Yes, I did it. Encouraged by endless advertising I decided to try out the 118118 ask us anything service by texting the all important question “when was the oldest whisky made”.

And, the answer was “first written record was in Ireland in 1905″.
I have proof from the BBC that there is a bottle being made before 1901, see article on the BBC.

So how good is the 118 ask us anything service really?

I will email them to find out and keep you posted.

Cheers

Volker

It’s much older. The oldest written record of whiskey is dated 1405, but the Celtic propensity for this excellent beverage suggests that they & the drink developed together – you should try out http://www.63336.com ;)

    Thanks.

Whilst I do not like comments with advertisement, I like your comment and give 63336.com a go next time.

I have to say 118118 reimburses me the money for my text. They have a fabulous customer service.

However, this time they got it wrong and 1405 sounds about right.

William Wallace who died in 1305 must have had Whisky too, wouldn’t he? So there we go ;-)
