I just read a post on this blog about the first day of fall / autumn.

I could not have said it nicer or better.
You are right, the fall (autumn in Europe 
) is a beautiful season. I think what I like are the cobwebs and the cold air in the morning. Everything seems to be much slower, more peaceful. As if the world goes to sleep for a few months.
On the other hand, when the sun comes out, things are getting warmer and nicer and the vibrant colours let you enjoy nature in a very special way.
What a lovely time!

Thank you for the great comment you left on my website.
I took the day off today, partly in celebration of the new season (and partly because I have to use 8 days between not and the first of the year, or I’m going to lose them)
When I woke up this morning, I noticed that the article I wrote last night, had gotten over 3,000 hits so I did a mad flurry of “thank you for the comments” on Twilight Earth, but I wanted to stop by personally to you’re site to say thank you.
I am off soon, to Arlington National Cemetery, to visit a friend who served with me in the Army and recently passed in Iraq. It’s a chilly, foggy day here in N. Va. and I cant seem to drag myself away from the computer to what will, inevitably be, an emotional day.
