After some time with my cafetiere and coffee bean grinder, I decided it is time after all to get an expresso machine.
My old one to use on the stove is nice but too inconvenient if I fancy a quick espresso.
After a quick online search and various shops I found a range of espresso machines from £20-£1,000. Since I did not know how often I would use it and how much I am going to like it, and, due to the space restriction, I chose the following:

It is a De’Longhi Bar 14 Café Treviso espresso cappuccino maker and it does the job well. If I like it, then there is a choice of better models for next year.
I keep you posted, no doubt.

I am annoyed you didn’t ask me for advice…. Been researching them for a while.
The DeLonghi is a nice, cheap, simple machine – had one for almost two years. Has yours got the little rubber pad to keep the coffee in place? Simple but effective way to cheat your way to decent espresso. What it cannot do, is to do really /good/ espresso, for that you need something better.
A small Saeco (like the Saeco Aroma) for just a little bit more money would have been an excellent choice – much better build and solid metal case. Mine has been lasting 13+ years now.
Good to see that you are grinding your own beans.

What should I say?
Besides I know what I want if I have more money and space!
I got the machine for a fraction of the price it is advertised online. So no need to research
Thanks and you are always welcome to stop by for a great cup of espresso.

The Delonghi’s are a great buy but the higher priced ones are truly better. Espresso machines are like olive oil and wine you have to pay to get the better quality stuff.
Wanted to share a great little site that can teach you a lot about what to look for and the differences between various home espresso machines. Check out http://www.top100espressomachines.com and happy brewing in the future.

Hello Eldad,
Thank you for commenting. Whilst I am agree that a more expensive coffee machine is most probably making nicer coffee – I had budget and space restraints.
However, how much would you think one should spend?
