The “I” that “does” spiritual practice sets itself up for failure and frustration. Letting go happens when it gives up.
One of my more favourite quotes. I like quotes that I have to read a couple of times until I understand them.
If your ego, your “I” is carrying out the spiritual practice, then you will fail and get frustrated. You will do it for your own purpose and good. That is not the idea for spiritual practice.
The spiritual practice demands that you give up your “I”, that you give up yourself and focus on the inner self and the greater good for the world.
You will then become happy. You will start to let go when you don’t focus on the I.
Simple really 😉
