Sunday Column (380)

If I look back at this week, it was a funny one to be honest. People are back from their Easter break, heads down, on with their work. So I had days at work just catching up on admin, last minute meeting cancellations and then days where I went from meeting to meeting. Some weeks are like that – not one is the same as the other. I suppose it is good for variety. Evenings were filled with watching Outlander on Amazon Prime on Amazon Prime. Found some awesome Outlander Quotes, see one here. The wife and I finally found a series we both enjoy. I also watch Bosch, a police drama, which is ideal for treadmill runs. No thinking required whatsoever! I also managed to catch up with a few friends this week which was nice. What I realise more and more is that one gets so busy doing things, that one can loose focus on the little, enjoyable things in life. Like meeting friends. Like making that difference to one particular person. It is great though and often I am sitting there on the train home, thinking it was a really good day. Most days anyway. The bathroom

Sunday Column (166)

I couldn’t have asked for a nicer start to the week. It was a special day, I had the day off, and for the first time in weeks it was sunny. So the family took off to an animal farm in order to look at goats, sheep, lamas, cows etc. However, the turkeys were evil and really scared Colin. Bless. We did a nice lunch in a country pub and finished the day with playing train tracks at home. Fantastic. I agree that these birds are ugly and can be quite scary if you are a lot smaller than myself πŸ˜‰ Obviously reality caught up with me this week at work. I have been busier than normal and lots of things seem to happen. I also did a lot of networking, ending up drinking too much, every night of the week. Having said that, I kept up my running routine and managed my first 30 minute non-stop run on Friday. So I am very chuffed with myself. This week I had a lot of thoughts. Not only about age but also about where the journey is going. The life journey. It might sound sentimental but when you stop life for

Sunday Column (149)

Happy New Year again. My first proper Sunday Column of 2012. And what should I tell you. The year started a lot busier than anticipated. The break I had seems far away but was very revealing. I think that this year is going to bring a lot of change. One change is around the corner but I cannot speak about it yet. However, the other change I can speak about quite openly: we are planning to move. We are quite focused with our search and surprisingly spend all Saturday looking at places (towns that is). And, even more surprisingly, probably already made a decision on the town. Maybe we should look around more but maybe we should just go for this place. First thoughts but we believe it might be the right decision. We are going to sleep about it a few more nights, do some more research and then going to look for some actual properties. Scary thought to decide on a place for the next 18 years or longer πŸ™‚ Anyway. The year started with every take away on the planet and probably close to the amount of booze as we had before and during Christmas. Not sure

Sunday Column (116)

Ok, needless to say this week was another quick one. I believe every week will be a quick one as I have so much to do at work, and do so many things at the evening, even if I am “only going home”. My diet was ok this week. You remember I tried to improve what I eat. Besides two client lunches and one team diner I survived, and only got tempted to too much wine at night and one night of pizza. So it is much better than the week before, but hey, it was only the first week. We are making a lot of progress. I don’t remember EVER eating so many apples, bananas, nuts, kiwis and oranges. All good for me! Each change needs to be incremental, one change at a time. So be patient πŸ™‚ I also added a lot of Google Chrome extensions, so hopefully my little netbook will become even more of a productivity tool. I had a quick peek at the Lenovo website, and found a laptop I’d like instead, but it is about Β£600. So for now, I stick with what I have. However, I treated myself to new head phones. My
