Sunday Column (404)

She has done it. I am super proud of my wife this week who finished the Loch Ness Marathon. What an achievement. Given she didn’t really start running until a few years ago, she has transformed her life by running half marathons, 10Ks and now the ultimate goal: a marathon. I have always said, I am not interested in running a marathon, yet given the achievement I have seen, maybe I am. Yes, if you follow a routine and you train hard, you can do it. Even my wife says everyone can do it. However, the mental power, the will to do it, must be there. I am a bit jealous as I had to cancel my challenge this year and I am not sure what I put my head towards to next. We shall see. Something will come up, I am sure. This also meant I had the boys all weekend. So what do three lads do at the weekend? Take away and beers. No, maybe not beers but take away and a football game. We went to see Brighton Albion play Barnsley in the Amex Arena in Brighton. 2-0. What an experience. My first ever live football game

Sunday Column (365)

This year flew past. Yet, I have been saying that every year. And there is nothing else than looking back at 2015 and saying: this was a successful year. I am truly grateful for my family, my wife, my boys and the life I am living. I am grateful for my job and my friends, the amount of good I can do by giving to others. I am just happy. It has been, as every year, a year of ups and downs. Ups in terms of development from a personal perspective, but also from a house perspective. We build a shed, renovated and got a few new bits and pieces. On the other hand, we didn’t have a big holiday, had a first and last camping trip, and didn’t go anywhere far away. Hopefully we change this next year. From my perspective, there have been a few changes though. As I am getting closer to 40….I discovered my fashion style and really settled for green trainers. I love those. Further I didn’t go cycling once this year but instead ran about 900K since January, did sixty 10 minute work outs with kettle bells, did about 2,000 push ups since May

Buddhist Thought – Love and Affection

I am not sure if I understand that quote. You can give love and affection but deserve it as much for yourself as others deserve it for you to give to them? Is that karma? I guess so. Whilst you should give and share love and affection, make sure you get your equal share of the pie. But you will. Keep giving, then you will receive! Have a great day, Volker

Inspirational Thought: Giving makes a living

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. ~ W. Churchill I am not sure if this is a repetition but never mind. We make a living by what we get: we work, we get money. We sell something we get money. We exchange things and get things we need. But we can only make a life, bring a purpose into our lives, by giving. We give and we get given at a later stage, non material. Isn’t that beautiful when you think about it? Volker
