Thursday Flash (25)

Flash…. The One Morning Habit to Break to Create More Time in Your Day – have you thought about getting up early? And enjoy the moment rather than the moment or phone controlling you. Stop to smell the roses I say. Nothing is more satisfying to watch your kids sleeping. Management and Emotions – I wrote my Master Thesis on Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Showing emotions as a manager isn’t a bad thing. We are all humans, and I believe that honesty paired with real emotions, no fakeness, gets you a lot further than stabbing people in the back. Willpower and motivation are key to success. Being able to focus on the most important task first and having the mindset to stick to it, is super important. Did you enjoy the Flash? Please forward it! Thanks, Volker

Sunday Column (420)

Ok. I have some time on my hands, don’t I. Actually I don’t have as much as I would like, and I got a lot busier than anticipated. That’s a positive thing, things are happening. So what do you do if you have some waiting time in London? People just went back to work properly this week being busy, so I had a few meetings in town, but then a few got cancelled last minute. Then I got some additional ones in. The train strike took me to London Blackfriars and this can be a bit inconvenient given most digital businesses’ location in London. Cut a long story short, I managed to walk a bit in London. Yes: W-a-l-k, take things in, smelling the roses. It was fantastic. Yes, I absolutely loved it. Not only did I manage to burn some calories and make some phone calls, I also managed to just wander around London. I was thinking for a moment to stop all the time and take some pictures, but I found this would distort my idea of experiencing London. I almost went into the National Art Gallery. When did you last have time to just wander through the

Buddhist Thought – The Mind is Everything

I will start to only publish my Buddhist Thoughts every other week. So moving forward I will have some with pictures and a short synopsis and my own thoughts on them. Most of course are self explanatory. Like this one. Your mind is everything. Anything that happens, happens in your mind. Whatever you think, you become. Stay positive and successful! Feed your good karma! Buddha Bless, Volker

Buddhist Thought: Mind & Body

Easter is upon us. Time to relax, unwind and recharge. This mind is an uncertain thing. This body is uncertain. Together they are impermanent. Together they are a source of suffering. Together they are devoid of self. These, the Buddha pointed out, are neither being, nor a person, nor a self, nor a soul, nor us, nor they. They are merely elements: earth, water, fire and wind. Elements only! – Ajahn Chah, “Bodhinyana” Above quote is split in two parts for me. Part 1 speaks about the uncertain things: the mind and the body. They are constantly changing: Impermanence. Both together cause suffering. They are free from (your)self. Part 2 speaks about that neither body or mind are “anything” – they are just another element. From my point of view we are looking at a simple thing: the impermanence of mind and body can cause suffering to us. However, thinking about it, you will soon realise that they are only elements, and not a being or anything. They are not connected to yourself, they are just what they are. So free yourself from them, detach yourself from the feeling of “your body” and “my mind”. Let your thoughts flow and

Dan Millman in London

I was all so nervous when I got the email last night that Dan Millman comes to London. So when I tried booking the event it was sold out. But, luckily for me, they changed the venue and I am now going to see him live on the 24th of September in London. You find more about him at his website. And, lots to read in my blog about the peaceful warrior.
