Saturday Blurb

Oh dear. What have I done all day??
I played with some plugins this morning and got a 404
Luckily my friend Gerda noticed it just in time for me to turn of the wrong 301
So really, my intentions today were to finalise my SEO settings for the blog but need to read and modify the plugin a little bit more. Got stuck trying to modify my background at my twitter profile. Didn’t really work either.
Guess I have to learn more about php, cms, abc and def
For a non-techie I am not doing too badly, do I?
So, before I spend the next few hours trying to bring more content on this page, I rather stop, open a nice red wine, get dressed for tonight and spend a nice evening with my wife and another “expecting couple”.
We even bought our first diapers today, better getting used to spending money for diapers, wipes etc. before the little (big) one arrives.
Content to follow tomorrow, as a 301

Twitter – first recap
Posted by Volker in cb consulting, personal on January 11, 2009
Hello All,
The phenomenom Twitter. What is it? A social network? A mini blog as you are limited to 140 letters? I am not sure yet.

You remember me talking about it in August? I thought this network is all about people saying what they have for breakfast, lunch, when they take a poo, how much they had to drink on a Friday night etc.
You remember this parody? Yes, I remember it well. Actually more funny since I joined Twitter. How come? Why did I join?
I thought, why not give it a go? First, I used it for updating my Facebook status. Using Twitbin, an add on to Firefox, I can update what I am doing whilst checking my emails or surfing the web.
And, a lot of other people do the same. This is the interesting bit about it. You not only find me and others serving the web and sending links to new topics of, in my case, online marketing, search marketing and Buddhism, but you also find news sites sending you breaking news with links. So, I am always up to date what is happening.
I can see our competitors announcing new services, or I can see the Google linking to new add ons for Gmail. How awesome is that. It replaces some RSS feeds and it also gives me up to date information what is happening. You can use it on your smartphone or blackberry too.
How does it work? Simple: you get an account and start following people. I only follow 74 people and already think that is too much to read and follow, but there are people out there following well over 10,000 others.
Then, get engaged. Twitter to others, make comments, join the discussion:
- @Twitterfriend I liked the link you send and I think we should meet for beer
- Anyone else at Hong Kong Airport, why not go for diner
- @Twitternofriend Your link is boring, but check out this one
And soon people will follow you. 41 followers I got. But, I am not twittering that much really. And, most of the stuff I twitter about is not that interesting for others.
Who can help you with twitter? The guys from Hubspot have done some awesome webinars on it and can tell you a lot about social media marketing.
So, join Twitter today and don’t forget to follow me!

new blog on multilingual search
Posted by Volker in cb consulting, personal, SEM on November 27, 2008
As you all know I am hooked on search engine marketing currently…or for the past 12 months anyway!
So, there was this great summit in London, the International Search Summit, organised by the only centralised multilingual search marketing agency in the world, WebCertain.
It was really really good. And, a good friend of mine starting blogging about the summit and also about European SEO. Latter blog is definitely worthwhile checking it out. The author has been working in multilingual search for quite some time and has extensive experience. I think there will be a summary of the summit coming shortly too.
Happy reading and speak soon.

SEO Book
Hello,
My office mate recommended me this free and easy to understand SEO book. It is easy to understand, so far anyway. I started reading it but due to my time commitment, I do not read as much as I would like. Also, I am still reading about time management, maybe in order to read more books in the future.
So, highly recommended by someone who really knows SEO!
And, for everyone interested in multilingual SEO and international Search, visit the Multilingual Search Forum!
Enjoy.

Internetworld
I am all excited. Internetworld is going ahead tomorrow for 3 days in London.
When building up today I noticed that this show is very diverse – from ecommerce to email to search to cms…. - I am all curious to see whether it can keep the record of 10,000 + visitors from last year and going ahead over 3 days. If it does and proves successful, then Internetworld might be the number one show in size for the online and digital marketing industry in the UK.
Of course, WebCertain will be there, booth E263, speaking on Wednesday at 16.00 in the seminar sessions about global search. We will also promote our International Search Summit - a good chance to grab one of the still available seats.
Meet me over the next 3 days in Earls Court 2!
