Inspirational Thought: Score the goal!
In life, as in football, you won’t go far unless you know where the goalposts are. ~ Arnold H. Glasgow
You know I am not a big sports or football fan. Particularly not the latter. However, I do enjoy a good game of Basketball, watch some American Football or Rugby. Yet, mainly on twitter, I re-tweet a lot of motivational quotes related to sports.
If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there. You need the direction to focus your energy and map out your path.
If you don’t know where you are going, you at least should have some side lines where not to go, e.g. not to fall off the edge of the world.
Goalposts: they will help you to stay on your path, focus on what you like to achieve, and by doing so, score!
Simple, isn’t it?
Stay focused.
Have a good day,
Volker
I’m so happy to have read this post tonight. Came at the right exact time for me.
Thanks. How are you anyway. I saw you changed your blog and all?
That’s an interesting conclusion and example. Yes, staying on the path by focusing on the goal is a big deal. However, I’m not so sure that everyone has to score. After all, goalies almost never score, do they? Some of the greatest goalies in hockey (since I don’t know “soccer” all that well lol) have never scored a single goal. Thing is, they know where the goalposts are and what their part is, thus the goalposts are really the ultimate thing to aim for, not necessarily scoring.
Hey, someone had to say it. 😉
Doing great Volker. Just needed a fresh look and feel on the blog. Life is change and the next phase is in full force 🙂
Yupp, as always 😉 you are right. Team game, team play. Sometimes it is about the direction the goal gives you, even if you never score.
A winner (and yes we can philosophize whether this is someone who scores or not) always wants to score. Has the drive to score.
But I agree, the goal can be a great goal post, maybe something you never achieve. But still worthwhile to aim for.
